Mrs. W. A. Reece Passes Away
     
Mrs. Mattie Reece, 54, wife of W. A. Reece, died at her home in Cavendish Sunday morning, April 29 at 9:50 o'clock, following a prolonged illness. She had been a resident of the Cavendish community for the last 39 years.
     Mrs. Reece was born April 18, 1889, in North Carolina, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Moratz. Her marriage took place in August of 1906, and with her husband she came west and located at Cavendish. Mrs. Reece was a communicant of the Methodist church and until her final illness prevented, was active in community affairs.
     Survivors are her husband, W. A. Reece; her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Blackburn, Cavendish; three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Florence Miller, Cavendish; Mrs. Olga Wineberger and Oscar Moratz, both of Mabel, N.C.; Thomas Moratz, Newport, Wash.; Mrs E. L. Maguire of Portland, Ore., and T. M. Moratz, Klamath Falls, Ore.; also three grandchildren.
     Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at 11:00 o'clock at the Community Church, Cavendish, with the Rev. Roy H. Murray, Kendrick, officiating. Interment was in the Normal Hill cemetery, Lewiston.
